Joyeux anniversaire !

Dear Newby,
So many Thanksgivings we’ve spent together, and the first one was also the first time I met you. I was younger then, as Bertie can attest in this photo, and did not yet really understand how much joy you would bring into my life. Over the years I have, like Jeff, always thought of going to North First Street as going home. That’s the most beautiful gift you can give someone, the gift of home. I think of you every time I sit down to tea and cookies, and, of course, almond cake, and always wish you were here or I were there to enjoy them together. So happy, happy birthday. There’ll be many more stories, cups of tea and almond cake. Much looking forward to seeing you over the coming holidays. Much love, Brigitte
